We’re so glad you want to know more about Winterville First Baptist.  We know it can be intimidating visiting a new church for the first time, so we hope this page will answer some of your questions.  If you can’t find the answer here, please feel free to contact the church office.

What kind of church is Winterville First Baptist? 

We are a theologically conservative Southern Baptist Church.  We freely cooperate with the Southern Baptist Convention (hyperlink to www.sbc.org), the Georgia Baptist Convention (hyperlink to www.gabaptist.org) and the Sarepta Baptist Association (hyperlink to http://www.sareptamissions.org).  We cooperate with these conventions and our local association in order to reach our community, state, country, and the world for Christ.  We hold to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (hyperlink to http://www.sbc.net/bfm/bfm2000.asp) as our doctrinal statement.  

Do you have Sunday School on Sunday mornings? 

We have Sunday School/Bible Study for all ages that begins at 9:30 a.m. Please ask one of our ushers or greeters to help you find a Sunday School class that’s right for you.

What is a Sunday Worship Service like at Winterville First Baptist? 

The morning worship service begins at 10:45 a.m.  You will hear hymns and praise songs in the worship service that will be sung by the congregation, choir, ensembles or soloists.  There is a time of congregational prayer at the beginning of the worship service that is led by our Pastor and is followed by a short fellowship time.  There will be a scripture reading from the Bible, a sermon from our Pastor, a response opportunity and an offering.  We have a Sunday evening worship service that begins at 6:00 p.m. that is similar to the morning service.

What is the pastor’s preaching like? 

Our Pastor will read one biblical text during the worship service and then present a sermon formed around that text.  The subject and structure of the biblical text will be the same subject and structure of the sermon.  This is called expository preaching.  This method of preaching flows out of the theological belief of the inspiration, inerrancy, infallibility, and sufficiency of God’s Word. 

How should I dress? 

Comfortable.  At Winterville you will see people wearing everything from their “Sunday best” to business casual in the worship service.

Is there anything for my children during the worship service? 

Yes, children who are in Kindergarten up to third grade are dismissed at the beginning of the worship service to attend Kingdom Kids children’s worship.  Parents are asked to escort their children to our chapel where they will sign their child in with an adult volunteer who helps in our Kingdom Kids children’s worship.  Parents can go get their children after the morning worship service is over.

When does Sunday morning worship service end? 

Usually around 12:15 p.m.

What type of ministry activities are there on Wednesday nights? 

Preschoolers, children, students, and adults have fellowship and Bible study opportunities on Wednesday evenings.  Refer to the latest worship guide posted on-line to see a current schedule.
