Mission Statement:
The Mission of Winterville First Baptist Church Media Center is to provide resources that will help develop fully devoted followers of Christ.
Scriptural Vision:
"...whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8
Services:
Our church is blessed to be able to provide a variety of Christian media for our members. We have something for everyone and for every occasion. We have books (fiction, nonfiction, biographies,
references), bible study materials, videos/DVDs, audiobooks, sermons and music. We also have a children and young adult section.
Media may be checked out for two weeks. If you need longer, just come by and we will be glad to renew your materials. Our main door is always open, so feel free to come in and browse. If you come at a time when we are not there, you may still check out media. Just follow these simple steps:
- Remove the checkout card located inside the book or in the plastic cases for videos, CD's and audiotapes.
- Sign your name (first and last).
- Leave the card on the round table in our office.
- The card will be stamped and filed for you.
If you are unable to attend church due to illness, please let us know. We'll be happy to check out books, videos, or tapes for you. We'll put them in a basket so you will be able to keep up with them better. You may have a family member pick it up or we will find a way to deliver it to you.
Prayer Requests:
- That many in our church will receive joy and insight from our Media Center resources.
- That our families will use books, videos, audiobooks and Christian music to deepen their faith and strengthen their walk with the Lord.
- That tapes and CD's of our services will help those who are homebound or unable to attend church to feel connected to our praise and worship services.
- That our media ministries, such as the WFBC Book Club, will serve to provide opportunities to reflect on God's word and prepare us for discipleship.
Gifts and Donations:
All monetary gifts are accepted and appreciated. Books may be donated to the Media Center "in honor of" or "in memory of" a friend or loved one. Currently we are collecting gently used books for a book sale on Sundays and Wednesdays during the month of June. If you have gently used books, bring them to the Media Center for pricing.

The library was housed in the church basement for many years. In 1998 Margaret Carmichael donated funds that allowed us to move to our present location adjacent to the sanctuary. We were also able to expand our book collection and add audiobooks, music tapes, CD's and DVD's to our holdings.
Online Bible Study Resources:
Bible Alive meets on Sundays at 5:00 P.M. It is a book-by-book overview of the Bible
led by Dr. Kathy Scott Young. These websites are very helpful in providing study tools,
diverse translations and guiding questions for individual or group study.

Kathy's Corner: Views and Reviews:
Nonfiction:
Aurandt, Paul. Destiny:
The author is Paul Harvey's son. In Destiny, he provides provocative answers to questions we never even think to ask but are pleased to learn. Passengers skyjacked to Cuba - why did they laugh the whole way? What was the strangest way to win a football game? Who was REALLY the first president of the United States? Read and be surprised.
Balsiger, Dave. In Search of Noah's Ark: Details of the evidence of Noah's Ark with photographs and interviews. One chapter covers the story of a worldwide flood. A must-read for all Christians!
Bishop, Jim. The Day Christ Died: Don't rate this book by its cover - it is profound and well researched. Takes the reader hour by hour, the last twenty-four hours of Christ's life. Author provides a close look at the events, feelings, politics, etc., using scripture and extra-biblical sources. Reads like a novel and should be read by every Christian!
Fiction:
Kraus, Jr., Harry Lee. Lethal Mercy: Christian medical fiction. Accused of a mercy killing, Jake Hampton returns to small-town practice only to be stalked. Great medical mystery! A must-read.
Moser, Nancy. The Invitation: The Mustard Seed series: book 1. Imagine receiving an invitation from God...now read the book. Moser has created realistic characters that find God, love, and adventure along with insight, spiritual growth, and righteousness after receiving their invitation.
Whitlow, Robert. Life Support: A beautiful woman, a rich husband, a controlling father-in-law, a brilliant attorney, and a tragic accident blend action, adventure and intrigue in this Christian fiction by award-winning author Whitlow. Definitely a must-read!
Austin, Lynn. Candle in the Darkness. This is a Civil War story with romance and tragedy. The author handles the issue of slavery with tact and sensitivity. There are no simplistic answers. This one will deepen the reader's appreciation of racial issues and God's view. A truly a unique novel!
