Missions
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and Son and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." -Matthew 28:19-20. (NAS)
Our purpose: To encourage church members to take the Great Commission personally, to promote mission awareness, create interest, support, and participation in mission projects, both locally and globally.
Missions supported through our Church budget:
- Cooperative Program (see the Southern Baptist Convention website, www.SBC.net, for more information)
- Sarepta Baptist Association - 75 Southern Baptist churches on mission together in Northeast Georgia
- Georgia Baptist Children's Home - ministry of services designed to promote the spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being of children, youth and families
- Penfield Christian Home - a Christian based substance abuse facility for men
- H.E.A.R.T. Ministries - a Christian based substance abuse facility for women
- The ARK - serves as an extension of the religious communities of the Athens-Clarke County area by responding to our neighbors who need our material and personal support
Mission Offerings collected each year:
- Annie Armstrong Easter Offering - every penny given goes to support North American Missionaries
- Lottie Moon Christmas Offering - every penny given goes to support International Missionaries
Missions Classes for all age groups:
- Women on Mission (open to all adult women), day group, meets 9:30 am, 2nd Tuesday of each month in room A-203.
- Women on Mission (open to all adult women), night group, meets 7:00 pm, 3rd Tuesday of every other month in different homes.
- Acteens (girls, grades 7-12) meet each Wednesday, 7:00-8:00pm in room A-108.
- Girls in Action (girls, grades 1-6) meet each Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 pm in rooms B-202 and B-203.
- Mission Friends (ages 0-5) meet each Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Preschool Building.
- Royal Ambassadors (boys, grades 1-6) meet each Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 pm in room A-303.
- Royal Ambassadors (boys, grades 7-12) meet each Wednesday from 7:00-8:00 pm in room A-108B.
